What's a good measurement for button layout. In Illustrator I set my center to center distance to 1.75 inches. Is this too far?

On my CP, the top row and bottom row are spaced 1 1/2'' apart, and in each row the three buttons are spaced 1 3/4'' apart.

I prefer them butted up against each other, so I go with 1-3/8"

all of mine are 1.5" apart, with  3" between center of joystick hole and center of closest button.

I use the 1.75" layout like you have there and it works just fine for my sausage fingers. ;)

Oh... the comments I could add here.  :)

Actually, I appreciate ya'lls input. I was thinkin they were a bit too far apart. I think I'm gonna move them to 1.60 centers if not all the way in to 1.50.

Thanks guys.

Seems most of you guys prefer the 'stacked' arrangement, Is there any real benefit to it other than appearance?

I have been doing some experimenting and think I'd prefer a 'stagered stacked' layout.

Just a little 'quicker' for me while playing,

That's what I have. I don't have space for a seven button layout. Frankly, on the rare occasions that I need a "D" button for a NEO-GEO game, programming the 6th button to also act as the 4th seems to work just fine. (Click the link below for pictures)

I make all of mine 1.5" apart on center. The joystick is 4" away from the left-most buttons oc. It's pretty much standard.

After re-centering everything, I ended up going with 1.60 on center instead of 1.75. I feel more cmfortable with this spacing. Oh... the circles are 1.082" -- the diameter of the barrel.

I have the space to work with but just kind of like having them closer. Maybe because I'm lazy and moving that extra .2" is just too much darn work.

Hey add all that up over a few hours of playing and I'm saving a block or two!

I chose the layout I did because it's what I grew up with (my favs were street fighter and killer instinct). It's very compatible with a lot of different games.

No spraypaint. I used the street fighter anniversarry ryu pad (red cord). I have a few chun li's too (white cord). Works great as a dedicated ps1/2 stick, not so great with converters. It's not an issue for me though, cause I hate converters.
