Controller Hack Question
« on: March 20, 2003, 11:22:03 pm »
Hey there,

I've made a couple of arcade sticks in the past, and recently acquired a dance mat for playstation. Thing is, I want to hack the mat so I can use it on DC and PC.
Of course, the mat itself attaches to the control board via a funky ribbon cable deal, so I can't really just remove the PS controller and solder wires to a universal plug as I do with arcade sticks. Which is a pity, because then I'd have a brilliant PS pad for attaching arcade sticks as well.

Can you forsee any problems if I just add a connector onto the PS control board itself? So that there are effectively two pads being used at once, but only one gets power? I'm thinking this could get a little shady, but thought I'd see what others think.

Cheers,

I may be wrong... as I don't own a playstation nor a DDR mat...

but there are adapters available, that just plug into the joystick end connector that enable playstation pads to work with USB/pc ...  there's more than likely one for psx -> DC as well...

I suggest checking outBYOAC console section

looks like there's something called the dreamstation (psx ->DC)  and there are probably others...

good luck!
