'Buzzy' sound from MAME?
« on: September 22, 2006, 08:13:10 am »

Hey all!

I'm building a new machine, but MAME has extremely buzzy sound..KRKRKRKRKRKRKRKRKRK=the opening song from Galaga :)
The sound is not skipping(not CPU problem) but is very very distorted.

Some of the shots sound fine etc.

The normal windows sound is okay. I'm using MAME 108

Any advice?

Thanks!

Nicholas

RF Interference?  Does it change when you move speakers, power supplies, etc around?

What kind of sound card are you using?

Creative sound blasters of all flavors have issues with old drivers with "crackle" sounds.

For my sound blaster live products, I manually downloaded (don't use the auto-update) the newest drivers and installed them.  This fixed the problem.
Reality is overrated.
