Kentucky + Mame + arcade monitor +I wish to see your set up
« on: September 20, 2006, 11:50:28 pm »
I want to see if it is worth me even going this way. ( PC to Arcade monitor)
I have a fully working Nintendo VS Uni system
( the type that has two arcades side by side in a "V" shape )
I have been collecting for my arcades over 5 years now. I am now ready to Mame this cab.
I have two 19 inch PC monitor or even Two 21 inch PC monitors ready to toss in
But ... This cab allready has two NICE 19" arcade monitors allready in it
If I yank these I have nothing I could do with them.
I am at a loss . I have no idea if I should even bother with Arcade monitors.
I hear Nintendo monitors are hard to work with
mine are Nintendo 20-ezv ( sanyo I think)
Build.... Monitors are allready in and mounted
Learn how to hook up Monitor to PC ( seems very hard)

Pc Monitor ? well...... I have 4 to go with right here
build... build a shelf to hold em . not hard maybe $50.00 in 2x4's and a sheet of MDF

Nintendo Sanyo20EZ monitors are not hard to work with but you do need to take into account that the input to the monitor needs to be inverted.  If the original VS Uni system is in there the monitors may/may not have the inversion boards.

Here is a forum topic that my idiotic self started that has a lot of info on the invertor:

Are you going to put two computers in this beast or are you going to have some type of splitter you think?

If you keep the Sanyo arcade monitors (which I would suggest due to resolution advantages)  you will need the ArcadeVGA and I don't know if it is possible to "split" the signal from one PC to two monitors.

If you do want to do the split route I would email Andy at www.ultimarc.com and ask him about it.

So are you going to try and run 2 copies of mame on the same computer and then send each emu to a different monitor? That would be neat. Either way, are you sure that two 19" computer monitors will fit in there? PC monitors are alot deeper than arcade monitors.

I would recommend you only put the Vs. games in it. Then you could tell your friends that it is an Ultra-rare multi nintendo arcade machine. They won't know the truth, and your geek..I mean cool status will go thru the roof! Yeah! :applaud:

2 mames on 1 PC no.
I do have a video card with 3 out puts though
2 vga and 1 svid
another card with 2 vga out puts
another with vga and svid out
That is iff I was to use PC monitors
I have read other used Arcade monitors with normal PC cards

I think I will use 2 PCs and check into arcade monitors but if it gets 2 hard I will see if 2 PC monitors will fit. It should hold them both... this thing is Fricking huge and lots of room.
Just at a glance inside I think 2 19 inch PC monitors will fit with out even tacking off the covers

I will see if I can find my card reader and take some pictures
post back in a few if I can find my card readers. All my crap is in boxes.
as far as PC's  have more than I need... I was going to build atotal of 7 arcades but Wife wanted bigger living room. She bought me all kinds of power tools and WHAM 3 walls are now gone. I have a very large bed room a Large living room but I must pick my 2 arcades
Ms Pac a must.... Hmmm Nintendo VS = another 2 . OK I cheated and have 3  >:D

Hard to get wedge my self back there.
best I could do with out removing the couch and chairs
less room in the back than I thought but I could build a new box for the back if needed and the monitors ( if I go with PC monitors ) have a few inches I could go towards the front. behind smoked glass
I just grabed my tape mesure.
sanyo 20-ezv = 19 inches long
My KDS 19 inch PC monitor = 19 inches long ;D
hay!!! my 21 inch kds pixel touch = 19 inches
my othe 21 inch is 19.5 inch long. all with cases on

here is the left side front , with glass off.
The Botum of the monitor is right up to the glass  :dunno never noticed before.
I will figure out how to mame this cab.
I think adding a boxed in back will work

last pic for now

Looks like I have room to move PC monitors towards the outer sides by a inch or 2
and a bit more up if i needed.

I will check more into the arcade monitors to my PC but I think it looks like my PC monitors will win out
also If I toss one monitor in vertical. That should clear up much more room
The smoke glass is very dark That will help on any ugly cuts I have to make
one of my 21 inch monitors has a 3 inch scratch in the monitor.
Game play... you can not see it.
behind smoke galss, I do not think you would see it at all
The scratch is why I was able to buy it on Ebay for $10.00 and I picked it up so no shipping charges  :applaud:

now talking to Andy
( well 1 email so far) I will advice with more daetails as I learn them

I did find out in the video forum.... I can not use 2 PC's in this cab with the arcade monitors.

The Nintendo VS board controlls the monitors. If I toss in 2 PC's monitors being so close will have a bar rollong in them becouse thay are out of sink
but still would make a FINE 4 player  cab
