3D ARCADE, cool little frontend I've used before....

3D ARCADE FE

Just thought I would share my thoughts with a review of this excellent Front End.

Frontend, more like a virtual arcade that you get to walk around in somewhat like all those First Person Shooters we all love. Some of the VA (Virtual Arcades) to choose from range from your standard basement arcade, mall arcade, movie theatres, and wilder designs like a museum of gaming, gi-normous arcade stadium (Blimp included), and even the castle from Super Mario 64. (Look below for pics and movies).

The controls basically operate like a FPS, the arrow keys (Joystick 1) control walking about, the mouse (Trackball) controls where you look. Very intuitive.

Some of the amazing features of this arcade are that the actual authentic models of the cabinets are intact, and, get this if you have the intro movies on hand, the arcade games themselves will actually play the intro movies on screen real time! Furthering the illusion of a real arcade.

Heres some eyecandy (Video links at bottom):

Yes, those are actual ROBOTRON characters walking about in the arcade.

Yes, that is a bowling alley.

"This Princess is in another Castle......"

"...But not this Castle, this Castle has better things in it than Princesses"

Here is Station Break, an actual famous arcade that was in New York since 1980

AND SOME VIDEOS!!!

OTHER VIDEOS WON'T ALLOW HOTLINKING, SIMPLY GO TO THE SITE TO SEE THEM!

As far as the PC requirements, I ran it with an Athlon 1.2GHz with a Radeon 8500 and 256MB Ram, and it ran good!

Enjoy!

Yah I am using 3dArcade - I love it! Not the easiest thing to set up, but none of the FE's really are... But it delivers some serious eye candy! Still haven't been able to get it to play nice with VPinball however, but haven't had too much time to invest in it...

3D Arcade is my frontend of choice on my computer but unfortunately my mame cab's computer is too slow so I use MameWah in the cab, don't get me wrong MameWah is cool too but I prefer 3D Arcade.
