Opti-pak vs. Happ's PS/2 / USB interface

If I only wish to use one trackball, if there any reason to go with the Opti-pak interface instead of Happ's own ps/2 or USB interface?

Has anyone at least used Happ's interface? I've seen plenty of reviews of the Opti-pak, but all of those projects either used multiple trackballs or had spinners involved.

I bought an Opti-pac... then I blew the board swapping the 5volt with the ground....doh!
anyway, I went with a USB mouse (non-optical) hack instead. But mainly because I got 3 for 6 bucks and shipping on ebay.
