Updated: Order from "RAM CONTROLS" Received
« on: September 16, 2006, 05:26:11 pm »
All,

Just as an FYI, I am becoming concerned over an order for a Major Havoc controller that I placed with RAM Controls on August 15'th.

Here is the e-mail chain, ordered so you can read it top down.

I have edited it to remove e-mail addresses, my street address and hide my real first name.

I have not received a reply to my notes of September 11 & 13.

I don't know, it sounds to me like the RAM guy has been good about replying and taking full responsibility.  Additionally, it's only the 16th (5 days since you last heard from him) and he did say that he was getting ready to move to Texas, so who knows how busy he is.  For all we know, he could be in a truck somewhere, driving across the country.   I'd wait until next week to see if anything has shown up but I wouldn't cry "foul" yet.

This is unlike my recent dealings with LCK-LED, an order I placed over a month ago and the fact that they're not even replying to any of my emails.   That's a situation where I'm pretty sure I'm getting ---fouled up beyond all recognition---. Your situation?  Not so much, at least not yet.

With any of these niche arcade-part businesses, it's sometimes touch and go.  People are doing other things and their 'companies' are frequently just them and maybe one other person, so waiting more than 5 days, during which the guy is moving, doesn't seem too horrible.

I have ordered from Ram-controls before and found them to be courteous and professional.  Sometimes things do happen as they say but I am sure that he will eventually take care of the matter.

I'm not calling anyone names, or telling people not to order from RAM Controls. I expect that I will get my controller sooner or later.

In truth, I probably won't build a panel for it until December. With this hobby, I find it's best to order parts as soon as you know you want them, as you never know how long they will be available.

I felt that the delay was long enough that people who are considering ordering should be informed. I posted the e-mail chain so they could make  their own judgement call.
