converting vcd(.dat) to mp3

Dear people,
i'd firstly like to ask for forgiveness for asking such a dumb question.I am not technically adept and hence the question.
here goes

is there an easy way of converting/extracting the audio from vcd's(.dat format) to mp3 so i can use it in sk jukebox?
is there any software that can do it and that is free to use?please help if you can
