Starfox-like game for MAME?
« on: September 15, 2006, 02:18:35 am »
Hey everyone, I was wondering if there are any games for MAME that are starfox-like in nature?  I don't really care if they're "technically" 2D or 3D as long as they have that 3D flight shooter feel to them...

I would normally think something like this is a shot in the dark, but I've seen some creative stuff done with seemingly 2D mediums, so I might as well ask.

Thanks, all.

Thanks for the link!

Looks like according to the games in the list, After Burner is the only one similar enough to satisfy.  Galaxy Force looks really nice and would be closer to my liking, but the controls are made for a flight stick when all I have is a regular 8-way

I've always been a huge Space Harrier fan.

S.T.U.N. Runner is another that's similar, although more "driving" than "flying".

If you can sort a suitable controller have a look at starblade or solvalou.

"I, ROBOT" has 3-D flying/shooting/dodging parts.  Maybe it is not on the catlist because of the other types of action, and the "ungame"

Does Starblade actually play for anyone?  On my 3Ghz pentium I still get the echoing sound and laggy gameplay.

There was a sit-down version of Starblade about 1/4 mile from my high school.  I'd skip out and go play it sometimes.  Very excited to get that one working eventually.
