yes yes yes!!!

its come at last

most of the inerds are gone exept for a dangerous evil looking transformer thing in like a metal grill box?

i have not yet touched the thing as doesn't look like i should but looking at the rest of the machine whats left i have near enough ripped out just a bunch of wires and put in a bag incase i need them left the button wires and the biggest part of the trackball wires i have left as obviously will need them but no screen and no anything so great for my mame project. there is a fan on the backboard that reads 230v 50Hz/230v 60Hz 10W wondering if i can power that up somehow as there is a earth wire hanging for it and 2 terminals which i presume are the power sockets.

I am actually interested in seeing some pictures of this, but for the love of everything that is holy...  use PUNCTUATION.

A few periods and paragraph breaks make reading MUCH easier.  Sorry if that seems harsh.  Hope to see some pictures soon.

well......

1. i cannot spell or use punctuation im very dumb lol
2. it might be the second model as says now with ocean world on it
3. if you or anyone is willing to help me out that is great
oo and some piccys will be loaded up on here  soon i hope!!!!

now.....

as things go there were a few bulbs in it the 4 player counter of crystals and a counter i found in the base  of the system saying money in money payed out.

im no gineus on these things so as there was no monitor and by the looks of it no board, however there was a little board with different i suppose headers on it, but anyway i riped out carefully most of the wires i didn't need
leaving the speaker wires and the button wires.

ok as in my last post there is a beefy fan on the back board that i would like to get going but am not quite sure how to power it so if anyone here knows how to do that thats great.

got my dad to extract the massive transformer out of it as didn't even want to touch it!!!

and finaly i managed to get the trackball out of the bracket but now find that the screws are all scesed up WD40 doesn't budge them atall grr.

so gtg but will resume this later if anyone is intrested in more info on this thing.

so what exactly do you want to do with this machine?,do you want to restore it or mame it?
the fan on the back is 240mains(but it will state the voltage on it somewhere so always look just in case someone's changed it),to connect it you will see 2 x pins sticking out of one side these are for your neutral and live(don't matter which way round)-make sure you use insulated spade connectors to wire to this otherwise you can solder straight on to these BUT you must use heat shrink so that no metal can be seen, also you will need an earth wire connected on the fan body(there are screw holes in place to do this)

I would agree with Mameing it to a point, which will give you greater number of trackball games.

The reason I was wanting to see some pics was to see the current state of the artwork/cabinet integrity.  Also to see exactly what type of machine it is like grantspain asked to better be able to help you with anything you needed.

not exactly, you should run the wires from a fuse(at about 2amp),i would run the cable from the cab euro socket(mains entry socket)you should find you already have a kettle lead inside the cab,you can connect into that-remember no bare wires and fuse it

like i said, run a 3 core mains cable to the fan and place an inline fuse on the live rated at about 2 amps-try to utilise the mains inlet socket on the machine as you don't want more than one mains lead coming out of your cab-comprende amigo

how do you attach a pic from my pictures???

rite umm i have already said there are no electric this in this hunk off junk!! its wood and plastic no wires or electrics atall.

all i want is this fan to work with a 3 pin uk plug u dont need to worry about anything else thats it.

wouldn't a 1a fuse from maplins so the trick as the fan is 230v power not 240.

i'm extremly dumb could i have a picture i drew one in paint that great program we have to thank bill gates for but it dun't upload or basicly i don't no how to!!

:laugh2: :laugh2:i've been doing this job for over 20 years so its straight forward for me-o.k you know the hole on the back(bottom right hand side) does it have a 3 pin connector still in place?
a 1 amp fuse will do and if you really want to you can plug it into the mains using a standard u.k mains plug, but its not very professional
you should not get stressed about things mate because if you decide to mame this cab you will hit alot more problems like what size and type monitor to fit,to use an arcade vga or not,how to fit the pc and making a control panel-so enjoy, learn and don't get stressed-remember one thing the reason i post on this forum is to help people enjoy what i regard as a fantastic hobby

well try this for easy and slightly more professional-fit a 3 way extension lead inside your cab(you may have to remove the plug to get it through the hole)then plug your fan into that also you have another couple of sockets for the p.c and monitor when you fit it-how's about that then :applaud:

if you want see if it just works then wire directly onto a mains plug and plug in,if it works then great-if it trips your electric then its not great, but you can't leave it like that and its not safe or professional
i ain't got a clue how to use paint shop either but i am bloody fantastic at fixing electronics
btw live is brown and you only need to fuse that wire but if your just checking then its not necessary

i new i was missing summit

rite so all i got to do is get a plug bung a 1 amp fuse into the fuse bit with the brown wire and but the blue wire into the neutral part and a big fat earth into the earth part of the plug. ok so that makes sense but i do no its un professinal but i will atmit im 14 should now be in bed but am on ere lol!!! so as long as i don't explod into mid air just to see if it works your saying that should work.

well i have a fire extigusher and a surge protector hopefully that should make it safe enough :dizzy:

rite gtg school omg

:laugh2:,its a very young age to get involved with this sort of stuff can't your dad help?
when you are checking things on a temporary measure then you need not worry about the earth and the added fuse protection as once you prove the fan works then there is no need to keep the wiring/setup the same
if you want to proceed with this cab then,in my opinion, the fan is the least of your worries and for me it would have one of the last things to fit
if i could give you some advice then read as many threads on mame, monitors etc,etc-make a plan of exactly what you want your machine to do and don't be afraid of set backs-to be honest the only thing that is bit scary is the monitor situation, but you should deal with that when you get to it and with the fantastic advice on offer here on this brilliant forum you should be able to confront and overcome all the future problems

these cabs were not designed to play loud music,if you really wanted you could replace those speakers with higher wattage types and install an amp(you could get all that from maplins),your ipod does not have an amplified output so you will not get the speakers any louder-did you get the fan to run?

um well i got the wire and so forth but dont no how to...

1. keep the wire in the little spade connector and 2. keep the fuse in the plug its a bog standard plug but a shavers 1 amp fuse.

as for the speakers the sound coming out of them is no louder than putting the tv on lvl 2 so i mean there is hardly any sound as you say the ipod isn't that powerful but with out useing a amp how can i get the original speakers to the sound lvl they should be would have been etc???????

you could use a standard mains lead(cut it off your mums hairdryer-not really),your mains plug would have either a 5 amp or 13 amp fuse(you can use that to test the fan)-the little spade terminals, you could cut each wire to the fan and insert the wires in some connector block to test.
the original speakers will be level once you install a system which has a stereo output from a output amplifier or you could wire the speakers in mono

3 amp is fine to test, spade terminals need to be crimped onto the wires using a crimping tool or wire cutters-remember there is a massive difference between testing a part and the correct procedure in its final product-safety is the key word here, yours mainly but also other people using your machine.
what you are now involved in is a fantastic hobby but you must be aware you messing with some high voltages, you can't be complacent or you could get hurt-when i was a trainee many years ago i got a 25,000 volt shock from a tv monitor and it ain't nice

lastest update i have got a keyboard adaptor fitted it up to the 5 buttons and it works a treat after cleaning them!!

fitted a nice strip 60w light behind the marquee with a switch in the bottom bit of the cabinet (to be fitted on a panel with disc drives and power button etc.

ummmmmmmmmm.....

got a really shocking old computer in there with the original sound blaster equivelant, crystal sounds or sumething (ISA)!

going to get a trackball adaptor the opti pac thingy and need to get a 19" PC monitor. (bristol area)
