Has anyone bought from Matsu?
« on: September 07, 2006, 10:52:15 am »
I may be buying a atomiswave cabinet from Matsu. He does not use paypal and wants me to send him a money order. It would be close to $2000.  This makes me a little nervous so I wanted to here about other peoples experiences in dealing with him.
I don't know if you know this but I'm sort of a big deal. I own many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I do not know anything about this person but I would not send anyone $2,000.00 cash, if this seller did not take paypal with credit cards or straight credit cards, I would have to take my business elsewhere
dm
this is just asking for trouble in my opinion
I carry both ultimarc & happ items, all brand new & I ship from the united states. My online store is ARCADEEMULATOR.NET, pm if I can help in anyway.

This is pretty much exactly the way I feel about this. It's okay to send cash to someone you know & trust, but $2k to a stranger with no buyer protection is just asking for trouble.

From what I understand, those cabinets are chinese knock-offs anyways. Are you sure it is even worth $2000?

The cabinet is not a cheap knock off its made buy Taito its almost the same as a Egret III.
The Cabinets richardp171 sells are Matsu's. I definately want the cabinet, and hes about the only guy in the us that has them that I know of, but Im definately not sending a $2k money order.

If you frequent the Neo-geo.com forums you'll see that he is a large importer of the candy cabs and does a lot of business.  He also seems to be one of the only people in the States that has a regular supply of them.  From what I've seen, nobody has had problems with him.  But you may want to pose your question over there if you're worried.

Matsu does a lot of business over at Neo-Geo.com's forums.  He's apparently very trustworthy and a good guy - but still.. I wouldn't send 2K in cash anywhere.

A good amount of members over at neo-geo.com have bought from Matsu. I am guessing you are not picking up the cab, but having it shipped.

hahaha...man, too much ChadTower.  man, i was laughing so hard about that hilarometer joke, and i'm even a democrat.  What's up with that?  hahaha

sorry sorry...back to the thread.  i had a quick question, i haven't actually seen one of these cabinets in real life, what is like the benefit with going with a cabinet design like this?  is it just like your personal taste on picking up one of these cabinets?
this bozo thinks, so therefore he definitely is a bozo

Matsu is a very trustworthy person and I know plenty of people who have dealt with him.  Never heard of anyone having a real problem with the guy, besides missing a $10 cps2 kick harness or having to rotate their own monitor.

It's different if the person you're sending the money to has lots of succesful transactions, and is known to the community.

I retract my "no way" answer, and offer a "good luck"

I agree with you to an extent Jack, but this is a lot more money than I'd be willing to risk with a money order. I'd still not do it, but that's just me.

It's me too.  There isn't a cab out there worth $2k to me anyway, especially one mass produced like this one.  Be patient enough and one will pop up that you can get easier and cheaper.

If the guy is that good, he is shooting himself in the foot by not taking credit cards, most people just are not willing to send that kind of money with no protection myself included

Matsu is a reputible guy... as mentioned before he is highly revered over NEO-GEO primarily because he imports bulk cabinets from JAPAN. The dude sells it all and as far as I know has not screwed anyone. He is also a business associate of richardp171 a premiere seller here.

Here's a link to his cab pictures of what he has for sale. You'll notice not one of them is a Chinese knock off. If there are two people I would trust to send $ to in order to buy a cab it would be richardp171 and Matsu.
