Is there a benefit that the official one has over a 3rd party VGA box? I bought a 3rd party and followed the wiring instructions on this board and it works flawlessly with my Arcade Monitor.

I picked up a NOS one on Ebay for $17.

I've read a review (couldn't find it if I tried so don't ask where it is) that stated the results are better with the official version than with others.  It also stated that you couldn't tell the difference unless they were put side by side.  Some might say "well then it shouldn't matter" and to that I say "good for you, buy a 3rd party adapter and leave the official ones for me."

You could find these on Yahoo Japan but I'm sure that doesn't solve your problem.  The one solution I could offer is to ask Per aka TheRealNeoGeo at www.akihabarashop.com  He can get you anything you want from Japan directly.  Keep in mind shipping though.  Also posting a price range would probably be helpful to those who might have one and are willing to let it go.

I'm 99% sure I have an official sega VGA new in box in my closet at home. I'll check when I get there.

ummm sega MADE? an official one? i had a knockoff i setup for arcade machine and traded all ive ever seen are the 3rd party ones (im shure u have but check ebay)

thats the one i used it worked good - i would personally sugest this one from my own experence if you cant get a sega one

I have since posting last got my hands on an official adapter.  It was a bit more than I had initially planned on spending but it sure does look good so I'm not complaining.
