Thinking about putting this PC together for MAME...

Does a 3.2Ghz Celeron D seem like it'll perform well enough for most games currently emulated?  My PIII 733 tends to lag while using GameEx, and I was thinking that this would be a good upgrade.  Anyone agree?

I'd be using my NVidia GeForce 4 MX420 with S-Video out for my TV that I use as a screen.

What kind of boxes do you guys run?  Thanks a lot.

Hi There,

I don't think you'll have any problems running with that setup really. The PC i currently run in my unfinished cab is only a lowly PIII 1ghz with a Geforce3TI 500 card & this seems to run the latest roms very well. I always found GameEx to run a little slow though so i ditched it in favour of MameWah.

Hope this helps

Steve

Yeah..  I would use Mamewah, but, I can't seem to figure out how to import a "reduced" gamelist... I removed a bunch of "junk" roms, like, Mahjong games, adult games, japanese puzzle games I'll never play...

But, I can't seem to figure out how to get this reduced amount of games into Mamewah.  While we're at it, does anyone have any suggestions for this?  Thanks!

Yeah, I almost always order from Newegg, but Tigerdirect always has some killer prices on Barebones systems.  Newegg doesn't have anything that can rival that price.

I bought several barebones for friends and family from Tigerdirect.  When I had problems, they always took care of them.
I just built a new MAME cab & PC earlier this year and got all of the parts from Tigerdirect.

That looks like a pretty good deal and should work well!

I had a problem using paypal with tigerdirect. Took about two weeks to process my order. Never ordered from them again. I stick to newegg for my orders after trying to deal with tigerdirects customer service.

Tiger Direct is down the street from me.  I hope over there from time to time to see if they have any specials or closeouts.  They have cheap cases and MB's, not so on the processors.  I am looking into building a new system for myself and use my old P4 2.6Ghz to run MAME.
