Happ Steering Wheel, Shifter, and pedals wiring questions
« on: September 06, 2006, 07:48:59 pm »
I have some happ racing controls i would like to get working on the cab...

I picked the stuff up on ebay and am trying to get them working thru a gameport/ cable.
I wired up the switches and pots but its not working that great...poor control and jittery at best. And the gas pedal wont read either. But, all seem to work somewhat in the game controller config in Windows 2000.

Somewhere I read that gameports need 100k pots...I had some 500k pots in a Twisty Grip I built and that controller was functional but not that great. So I whacked off the harness and plug and hooked it up to this setup.. I picked up a 100k pot today and will try it in a bit..

The original pots are 5k.
I do have an ipac running everything else, a ps2 trackball, and a usb spinner. I figured the racing controls would run right off the gameport since everything else is taken with controls already...

Anybody have any experience in this??? I've looked pretty hard in the forums and on the web but it didnt seem to help much...

Any help is appreciated.

The easiest way is to use one of the analog-to-USB converters available.

I've been using an AKI for years, with great results.
Ultimarc also has their A-pac out now.

Both of those products support multi-axis analog controls, which will let you use the third axis for the gas pedal.
