I will try to get pics of the Zombie cabinet tomorrow. I am not sure what to do with it I bought it because I thought the artwork was pretty cool.

Ok,

The server has had hardware problems today so it has been up and down (seems like down more then up)

It is working currently and they "THINK" it is resolved.

It is accessable at the moment though  ??? The hosting is usually pretty solid, but since I had something to post now it is acting up....murphys law.

Sorry for the problems.

Dude, Rampage cab is perfect for Mame-ing  :o Lots of possibilities there. That is, unless you want to keep it original
My wife doesn't understand !!

Well it is already a conversion........I was working on figuring out how I could get it to run the Rampage board and Mame, I Know I read about it somewhere a long time ago but I don't remember where. I might build the 4 player CP from mameroom for it.

I will try to get some pics of the Zombie Raid cabinet tonight, I honestly don't know what to do with that one.

Isn't Rampage World Tour emulated pretty much perfectly in MAME?  Seems like a lot of work for not that much gain if that's the case.  Plus it's not even an original Rampage cabinet as you said.

I have not played it in mame, I have played the original Rampage in mame and that worked.

Your probably right about it being alot of work, I just did not feel right gutting a working cab.....I will probably get over that pretty quickly after I really look into what is involved getting everything to work together.

John

edited to add, I did not get to take pics of the other cab tonight, I was working on the room they are all going in till after 9pm. I think that is more work then the cabinets!

That Zombie Raid sideart is ridiculously awesome!!!

Whatever you do, don't cover up or get rid of that art.

That rampage would be a great 4-player MAME machine.  You could leave the arcade monitor in there, probably cap kit it and interface it to the PC.

The rampage sideart is crap so strip it, repaint the entire cabinet black, and come up with a theme for new sideart.

4 player machines that come to mind are

Gaunlet(s)
Simpsons

some sports games... etc...

The art is the only reason I bought the cab. So the art stays, I also has one broken gun (missing parts)

I am not sure what to turn it into though.

The Rampage monitor is in really good shape I don't even think it needs to be capped, not that I know how to do it anyway.

I am thinking about building the UAII control panel for it.

Well, looking at it again, the first thing I can think of is to make it all light gun games.

There are quite a few in MAME that are fun, and also there are one like HOTD.

I don't even have that great of a computer but it can run HOTD2 I believe.

You could use the new design of the ActLabs Lightgun, 2 of them in fact, and build a new control panel that had pockets to rest the guns down in them.  That would rock my face off!!!!

EDIT:  This is all for the zombie cabinet.

Do the new light guns work with arcade monitors?

EDIT: I don't remember seeing HOTD in mame, did I miss something?

No, HOTD is not in MAME.  You can buy the game.. ahem...  ;) and have the executable in on your harddrive.  Most frontends will let you start a computer program just like any other MAME game.

In effect you would just pick that game out of the list and play it.

Check this out... http://www.retroblast.com/reviews/LCDTOPGUN-08202006-01.html

These will work with the "fully automatic" weapons on some games whereas the www.act-labs.com lightgun uses a flashing white screen to locate the gun pointer.

Thanks, I will read it.

that LCD Top Gun looks interesting, I am not sure about the led rails though....Only 1000 hour life seems short.

Well I got through about half of those 42 pages before my eyes were ready to fall out  :dizzy:

It seems they have there issues but for the most part can be overcome. So I guess the Zombie Raid cabinet will remain a dedicated shooter cabinet. I will just have to figure out how to turn those big holes in the CP into holsters for the guns.

What type of computer power do we need for the shooters these days? My vertical cabinet is still running mame 0.62 and it works well with very minimal hardware. I just everything together for .108 now so that will be my new install.
