I've recently got my hands on one of these and was wondering if anybody knows a source for a couple of parts.

Was the monitor bezel paper or plastic in these? I don't know, because mines gone.

Also, there's some odd t-molding that goes across the bottom of the monitor area with a notch in it to hold the glass. Mine has cracked off at the base of the slot part. Looking to get some more so I can get the glass back in, which I do have. Also would like a replacement dust washer. I'm not holding my breath on any of the parts, especially the t-molding. It doesn't even have a part number for it in the manual. Any pointers out there?

I'm surprised the t-molding doesnt have a part number. Atari usually itemized EVERYTHING in the manual.

Atari normally used cardboard bezels. I can't say for sure, but chances are 720 had a cardboard one as well.

I'm confused. Your cab uses a joystick. I thought 720 used a big trackball?

Nope.
Joystick handle mounted at an angle on a spinner with 2 encoder wheels.

Yeah, I think it's referred to as a chain joystick, since it does have a little bicycle chain that goes to the encoder wheel.

Yep the joystick rotates and does indeed use a chain (I'll see if I can find/take some pics if needed)

The glass on mine is clear and not smoked.

The link I posted is not mine, but helped me restore 2 cabs I had (sold one)

Thanks for clarifying the glass. All the pictures I've seen also seem to show clear glass vs. smoked. I guess it's possible that since my glass-retaining t-molding is broken, the original glass may have been broken and replaced with this.

I've never seen a 720 with smoked glass (out of about the 10 or so I've seen in person)

The sides, I've seen gray and red

720's were actually what I call "silver". It looks like grey in photos, but it has a metallic look to it and the color changes a bit depending on the angle you look at it. Most of them I've seen have been repainted a plain grey though. I have one in line to restore, but I really don't know what I'm going to do to match that color. I wanted to just laminate it gray but since discovering it is metallic, I haven't been able to find a match.

Go to a Menard's and check out the Dutch Boy Dimensions Metallic paint. hey should be able to get a good match for you using that stuff.

my 720 had black sides when i got it so i just went with the solid greay sides too. clear glass as well. i think mine plays weird too. are you suppose to get 3 lives at the start of each game? heres the pics of mine when i got it and now.

You can setup the different options through dip switches on the board. If you're needing a manual you can get one here. Lookin' good on the 720 restoration.

thanks so much for that. i know now that mine was set on all the most difficult settings. guess im way better at it for that.

i didnt know much about the board when i bought it. all i did was cleanup the inside since it worked fine. i pretty much replaced everything on the outside except the buttons and the coin door(which i repainted.) the only thing mine is missing is the black ring that goes between the joystick and the control panel.

mine is still technically there, but someone cut the edges of it so the opening is as big as the hole for the joystick. it seems like there should be some sort of easy fix for that. but i see cheap complete control panels on ebay all the time. ill probably just get one of those. might be worth the spare parts
