GC and X-Box controlers for hacking
« on: March 17, 2003, 12:12:43 pm »
Hey guys I am making a new arcade stick for the new upcomming game Soul Calibur 2. I was wondering what are some good controlers to hack for the GC and the X-Box. Thanx.

Is SC2 going to require analog?

No I don't think it is. If it is then I am screwed ;D. I have hacked 2 PS2 analog controllers so I guess I don't need to worry about that. I am going to be using the controller on all the current systems. No I don't really want to use a converter. I would like to hack some pads for this thing. Thanx.

I did madcatz x-box pad.its very easy.fairly big contacts where you solder and no problem. :)

no idea about Gamecube pads though :P.

But if I were you,I would just buy some Madcatz gamecube pads and see if i can hack those.

i successfully hacked a madcatz for xbox... still not sure about how the trigger pots are supposed to be wired... if someone can give me a hint on that, id be overjoyed

but anyways, it was a cinch (with the exception of the triggers)... no analog controls tho... works for DOA3 and THPS, which is just about all i play... it doesn't work for halo, but thats okay (i only mounted a right trigger... just don't use left enough)... good practice/experience before i start my arcade panel...

i would imagine that SC2 will not require analog... doesn't make much sense...

weird thing about the MC xbox controller is that with the buttons, my multimeter was reading a short across the contacts... but a NO cherry switch worked fine anyways.. weirdness abounds...

Thanks guys looks like I am going to be buying X-Box controllers for this now. Does anyone know around how much they cost? Also out of the blue question does anyone know what the buttons for the SC2 for the systems will be. You know what button is going ot be A, B, K, G? That would be really helpful if someone could find that out. Also I was thinking about putting in LEDs into the horizontal push buttons on this stick ;D, that would look ---smurfin---' illin. Thanx.

if you use adapters you need analog sticks on the psx pad or it will not be detected by the system
