Trackball Questions for cabinet please.
« on: March 17, 2003, 07:49:12 am »
 Hello

I'm in the process in building my cabinet, and was wondering about which trackball connector etc to use ...

i was looking into the happ 3" trackball - which already has the usb and ps2 connectors added to from happs web page ( this was one option )

then i also found a connector from oscars which will connect to a happ trackball ( with a good saving ) but was wondering on the hack as to how great these work ?

or would the best option be to go with the Opti-pac and
a Happ 3" Trackball.

P.s i alread have the Ipac.

 Thanks for any help.

and hopefully maybe someone has tested the opti-pac and the usb-ps2 cable hack ??  that can give me a little inside as to what they thought etc.

 Thanks Guy's
 :)

I have a happ 3" highball with no fancy adapter, and an opti-pac connected to the computer via serial cable.  The opti-pac is good because you can connect like 2 trackballs and 4 spinners to it, pretty versatile.  It's a popular option.

Exactly which connector did you buy?  How much was it?  I e-mailed them regarding if they sell this product and no one ever got back to me  :(   If you could give me a link to the product or the exact name they use on their website, it would be much appreciated!

I have the Happs USB 3" trackball and it is the easiest thing to install ever!  Since it's USB all you do is plug it in and you PC sees it as a mouse.  Works great.

I have both the USB Optipac and the happs USB trackball interface, and both work great.

The nice thing about the Optipac is that the two trackballs can but used by different players, with USB mode, winME/98, and Mame:Analog+ (see sig).  Other things nice bout the Opitpac is you can hook it up to serial port(s) for dos dual mouse support, and its cheaper than the happ USB trackball interface.  (I got the happs interface when it was on sale a while ago.)

Hi Randy,

I actually emailed you a reply with links to a bunch of pictures the same day.  I'm sorry you didn't receive my original reply, but I am resending the email to you now.
