Post regarding new feature in Virtual Music Jukebox
« on: August 24, 2006, 10:05:34 am »
Greetings,

Thank you for all of the feedback regarding the new facelift of VMJ.  I've been overwhelmed with emails (Not all positive, but very much appreciated).  Much of the critism I've received regarding VMJ is that it is not very "M.A.M.E." friendly, dispite efforts put forth into "Arcade Mode".  I have added a "Quick Search" add-on feature that makes searching for music quick easy.

The quick search feature can be used for arcade cabinet setups or if you just want to play a song quickly (down and dirty...no frills).

How it works.

1) Press the mapped ACCEPT key without entering a selection.  This could be a button on an arcade control panel.

2) A list of all artists will be displayed.  Use the mapped UP or DOWN keys to highlight an artist.  This could be the UP and DOWN on a joystick.

3) Make a selection pressing the mapped ACCEPT or mapped RIGHT key.  Selections can be made by moving the joystick right.

- Pressing the mapped ESCAPE or LEFT key will cancel/exit out of the quick search screen.

The quicksearch feature first displays all of the Artists in the current library.  Once you select an artist, the screen will clear and display all of the albums for the selected artist.  Once an album is selected, the screen will clear once again and display the tracks for the album.  Selecting a track will add it to the playlist.

The quick search feature must be turned on in the settings.

Hope this feature is helpful.  Your feedback is always appreciated.

Thanks!
