However, it doesn't look like it knows the controller type. I now have NONE for every game.

If you read the readme, you'll know why...

My 107 version with the cleanstretch option added back is available here

http://web.telia.com/~u84606172

You can change the cleanstretch at runtime in the video menu.

Okay guys over at my Dad's house.  I know I have asked this before, but this is way above my head.  I know nothing about xmls or any of that.  But this is hacking me off.  The directions I have been reading suck as well.

Okay here is my deal.  I have the newest version of MAME .107b I think it is.  Then I have MameWah that is ging me the problems.  First it wouldn't generate the lists.  IT gave me the error.

So I found that replacement xml2info.exe file and put that in my mame directory.  I got it from the link on here.  Then MAMEwah finally let me generate the list of games.

Now my next problem is this.  I click the number one key to play a game and nothing happens.  NADA, ZILCH!!!

Can someone please help me get this thing to work.  If I could find the file I would redownload the .106 file of MAME and use it.  Please just tell me in idiot terms how to make mamewah work with .107

And remember I am an idiot. Explain easy! Dont point me to no links either cause I didn't understand those readmes that one guy had on xmls

I presume you are using Mamewah v1.61 which would explain why you are getting this problem...

xml2info when I go to his site there are two zip files to download.  Do I just download the first one that has the newer xml2info file and the c file.  Then do I just put the xml2info file inside the mame directory.  Cause I did that, and my problem is when I click the 1 key to play the game in mamewah it does not work.  The game does not load.

Did you re-generate the MAMEWah game list after you dropped in xml2info.exe?

Yes I did that already.  What I am going to try to do.  Is backup my Mame .106 and Mamewah 1.61, and run this stuff on my system at home.  Maybe it is his computer or the way I unzipped the mamewah program.  I don't know.  I will mess around with it though.  If all else fails he can use the .106 version that I am using.

Yeah I tried it on  a friend's computer.  I installed latest version of MAME.107 then I put on mamewah 1.61 then i put the new xml2info.exe in the mame directory.  It will generate the list, but not play the game when I launch it.  No big deal though.  I will just use .106.  Thanks for the help guys.  Look forward to when mamewah works on its own with the newest version of mame.  That is not disrespecting krink or minwah.  Cause Mamewah is still my emulator of choice.  Just got to use .106 of mame.

Look forward to when mamewah works on its own with the newest version of mame.

Mamewah (v1.62b10) already works with Mame v0.107, and I can assure you Kricks xml2info.exe works very well too (once you have a games list you know this works).

The only problem is Mamewah (up to v1.61) sends the romname in uppercase...the latest beta fixes this, or you can use a wrapper with Mamewah v1.61 - see the Mamewah board sticky 'useful programs' for a link to this :)

If you want the correct controls info in mamewah (with mame .107), just use krick's xml2info_xsl.exe and make a batch file to wrap it up called xml2info.bat.

Works just like if you had .106.

My problem wasn't really the whole generating lists thing.  I put that xml2info thing in the mame directory and it started to generate lists just fine.  My thing was once I tried to launch a game from the mamewah interface the little window would pop up like it is going to load, but then it doesn't load the little box just goes away.

I was using the version .106 of mame.  The mamewah version I was using was 1.61.

I have not tried using mamewah 1.62b10.  Where can I download this version of mamewah?  Should I become a member of your message board to download it from there?

If I can get the 1.62b10 version of mamewah and use the Krick's updated xml2info.exe with the .107 of mame, or hell even .108 I think they released that yesterday and it get to work that would be awesome!

Sorry, that's only for using mame .107 and mamewah 1.62b10.

The xml2info on krick's site reports "unknown" for game control type on all games.  This causes a problem with filtered lists in mamewah.

If you use xml2info_xsl you don't have this problem.

By the way, thanks a ton krick!

Okay guys I haven't done anything yet, but Mustard and Krick's info I think I am kind of getting it now.  I need to still get my hands on that beta version of Mamewah.  But I think I know what I am doing now.  Krick's has the new version called 0.4 of the readme with an easier command line command that looked pretty good.

I will give this a shot tonight and see if I can get it to run.  I would like to get my hands on the new mamewah.  I guess I need to join Minwah's message board to get it.  I will try all of this stuff with .107 then .108 and see if I can get it to work.  But like I said I will backup my old mame stuff first.

Thanks guys!

If you want the correct controls info in mamewah (with mame .107), just use krick's xml2info_xsl.exe and make a batch file to wrap it up called xml2info.bat.

Works just like if you had .106.

That's a good idea.  Thanks.  I just added a batch file to version 0.5.  I also modified the transform so it should handle XML from older mame versions as well.  I just tested 106 and the output is identical to using xml2info.exe from 106.

Just a note: The batch file is named xml2info.bat.  If you have it in a directory with xml2info.exe and you just specify "xml2info" on the command line without the extension, Windows will pick the EXE over the BAT file.  To prevent this, remove or rename xml2info.exe if it exists in the same directory.

Get it while it's hot....   http://mame.3feetunder.com/xml2info/

Just thought I would mention before people try it....this batch file version will not work straight off in Mamewah.  I will add a check for both xml2info.exe, and if it doesn't exist, then xml2info.bat.  In the meantime, you may get away with just renaming the *batch* file to xml2info.exe...

Edit: renaming the .bat to .exe does not work :(  The reason the bat itself doesn't work as I (stupidly) added a check for xml2info.exe - I will alter this just to ensure either xml2info.exe or xml2info.bat exists.

hmmm...  maybe I'll try to make an actual exe file.  And while I'm at it, I can link in the libraries so you don't need the 4 DLLs either.  It will take some tinkering on my part.

Please don't do so on my behalf, but it would be very nice to just have an exe :)

I have pretty much totally converted my ancient -listinfo parser for -listxml now.  There may be problems with it, and for the moment it will probably only work 100% with Mame v0.108 (I haven't examined other -listxml outputs enough to know all the differences).  Seems to work very well so far tho...

I don't suppose the new beta has support for zipped snap files yet does it?  I'm using Win98 on my cab and unzipping the snaps takes about 10 times as much disk space as the one zip file.  :banghead:
