Mounting a trackball flush with your CP
« on: March 16, 2003, 07:53:24 pm »
Hey, I want to mount my TB so its flush with the CP top, and only the ball shows. I dont want the damn TB Plate visible. I have a Happs TB plate. It is the older model.

Who has some wisdom in this area? I do remember someone routed out the CP and just glued the plate in. I don't reeally want to just glue it.

Thanks.

I determined the thickness of my mounting plate, then routed out an area in my CP that was that deep (or maybe slightly deeper).  Then i mounted the control panel using whatever nuts and bolts that it came with.  Then I covered my control panel with some graphic overlay (with the hole cut for the ball of course) and then plexiglass over that.  It looks and works absolutely perfectly.

It's a Happ 3" Highball trackball and the happs mounting plate.

Jakobud, do you think that procedure you outlined would be good on a non-highball trackball? Would it stick out enough with the plexi over it?
