Accelerator on Thrustmaster Wheel problems using Mamewah, Mame 106, WinXP

I can get the wheel to steer the games, but the accelerator pedal is analogue, and some games seem to want digital. I can get the menu (by pressing tab in game) to set the throttle to the pedal, but it doesn't work in the game. Setting the throttle to a normal button on the wheel works, but is kinda not the point! Is there any way to fix this?
