Best version of MAME for use with MAMEWAH on slow rig?
« on: August 20, 2006, 10:19:21 am »
I tried PowerMAME on my top-of-the-line box (well, it WAS top of the line in '98 when I picked it up!   ;D ) PII450 and it ran choppy - even when just playing Phoenix.  MAME32, which I've always used on that box, runs fine for most all classic games.  So, if I'm gonna use this box, guess I'll not use PowerMAME.

So, which version of MAME is best for that low end box and can be used in conjunction with MAMEWAH?  I tried to get MAME32 running with it but there seemed to be a problem - the 32 GUI would start when WAH was trying to make the game list and that  :censored: everything up.

Also, WAH should be fine on that box, right?

TIA,
John in TX

You'd see a bigger difference by running an older VERSION of mame, not a different flavor of it (command line, MAME32, Powermame, etc).

All of those flavors will/could be based on the same core version of mame, so you won't see much differnece performance wise.

You'll be better off running Mame .36 or .55 on that system.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.
