Mala and video requirements
« on: August 19, 2006, 03:03:55 am »
My Mala gamelist (up-down scrolling) is not responding while my video-previews are on in Mala RC7a.   I updated DIVX codecs, updated DirectX, moved video up and down in the layout's Z-buffer, changed video size, and many other tweaks with no success.  Any ideas?

I used video previews before without problems, but have reinstalled XP and a new version of MaLa so many things could have changed.

My MAME cabinet is a 1.5GHz w/256MB ram.   My other computer (2.8GHZ/1GB) is scrolling with the vids on in Mala fine however.  Could it really be a CPU/ram issue  ???  I had vids working fine on the MAME machine before so I'm thinking something changed (meaning I probably broke something)  hmmm

Can you play the Vids using Windows Media Player?

Can you play a vid as a MaLa startup vid? (found in options/gui/start)

The AVI files play in Windows media player.  They also play in Mala, but the keyboard becomes unresponsive while they are going.  The right-click mouse menu still comes right up though.

The startup vid option is not there.  The help tab shows Version 1.0 RC7 [1.0.1.211]

If you get the update you can play vids on start-up (1.0 RC7a)

At a guess you have dowloaded RC7 but not the update part to make it RC7a

Refer Here
Its just a new mala.exe and malaylayout.exe. Simply download and replace these two files you have.

[EDIT] I just loaded MaLa on a slower PC I have 1.5g  and all works fine so I doubt it's a MaLa issue   :P
