Where do I find those counter thing-a-ma-jigs?
« on: August 18, 2006, 05:27:41 pm »
I am not sure what they are called, but looks a bit like an old odometer. When you open up some old arcade machines there is a counter thing that keeps track of total number of plays.

Where can I find one of them? Or let me know what they are called and I can search myself. :)

My coin door has counter out wires, so I thought it would be cool to get one.

Coin counters is the term you are looking for.  Someone here might have one, or you can google them.  I thought I got mine from Mike's Arcade (mikesarcade.com), but I don't seem to see any there right now?  Also, check out this post where I first asked about coin counters.  Some very nice people helped me out with them as well.

Good luck!

Edit: Darn memory.   :banghead:  It turns out I got mine from arcadeshop.com for $6.95.  I have no idea how bad I got ripped off on that, but then again, I'm sure I've been ripped off worse before.  They didn't seem to list them on their site, but when I asked in email they told me they had them.

I managed to find them at Happ.

http://www.happcontrols.com/amusement/billiards/42116800.htm

They call them Counting Meters.

There is no sense searching anyplace for the term coin counters, as it just returns too many hits for those things that count and wrap coins. The counting meters do not even have the word coin in the description so doesn't show up in that search.

Any idea how to hook one of those up? My cab came with one, but the wires were cut. Not a clue about what goes where. :(

Hey gamecreature.  I haven't hooked mine up yet, but this message seems to show a rather detailed picture for what needs to be done.  You'll have to determine what voltage yours is -- that diagram is for a 12volt, but I know mine is 5.

Good luck!

Edit: oh, and it assumes you are using an I-Pac, which I don't know if you are using or not.
