Separate grounding needed for buttons -> JPAC?
« on: August 17, 2006, 12:55:58 pm »
I'm moving my Tekken 2 machine controls to work through my JAMMA->JPAC.

I've studied the wiring diagrams, and the following buttons are currently going through the Jamma harness
P1:B1+B2
P2:B1+B2

However,
P1:B3+--BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type-- and P2:B3+--BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type-- go through an external connector. So, I am planning on moving B3 for both players to the JAMMA harness, and the --BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type-- for both players to the --BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type-- hookups right on the JPAC. This way I can be fully Jamma compliant and also have my arcade monitor hooked up without rewiring anything dangerous.

The first item I'm not sure about....
All 4 buttons for each player already have a ground wire going through them. For button 4 for both players, if I hook them to the JPAC, do they need a separate ground wire going there? Or do I just need to hook the normal wire from both button 4s into the respective terminals on the JPAC?

Thanks!

its not going to matter which ground you are using, whether it be the ground from the jamma harness or the ground terminal on the jpac, either one is fine

if you want to be safe it's not going to hurt at all if you use the jpac ground for the extra buttons and leave the others on the jamma ground

Cool Thanks for the info! Just what I needed!
