I would like some advice on how to protect the paint / finish on my cabinet I am building.
The cabinet was restored from an old junker I bought cheap. I sanded it down, put a gray latex primer on it, and last weekend sprayed it black. The black looks good with the semigloss finish although it turned out a little more matte but thats fine. The problem is it feels very rough to the touch and marks very easily.
What do you recommend to finish the wood with. I have two things ideas. One is a latex clearcoat, and the other is a furniture wax. Can furniture wax work on latex paint?
Should I wetsand the latex down to be smooth, and then clear coat it or should I clear coat it and then wetsand the clear coat? I am also conscerned that it will be too shiny, but I would like the finish to looks sharp, contrasty, resistent to scratchs and fingerprints and accidental beer spills :p
Thanks,
Robin
