Flourescent light Fixture - Electrical Question

You know what?  I must be on something today.  I just misread my cable's packaging... So I'm even going to go so far as editing this post to just say hey, life is good.

I went to Home Depot, picked up a light fixture.  Noticed it wasn't wired for wall-outlet, so went back to home depot, grabbed a light-duty extension cord, and chopped it up to wire the light... After doing so, I noticed the bulb was rated at 20W and i *thought* I read the cable as being rated at 13W..... turns out I was blind, it was 13A, and 1625W....

So my original question was whether or not the cable was a hazard, which, it turns out, *I'M* the hazard... Apologies to anyone in my immediate vacinity if you should happen to explode while I attempt to be handy.

its a sad thing when your wife gives advice ,but for me its the current rating thats important,we don't rate cable by watts in europe we do it by amps,if your cable is really thin then yes it could be a problem but if its standard mains(i.e lighting)then no it should be o.k

I'll be the first to admit that my wife knows a lot more than I do about these things.... She worked at her family-owned factory for years, meanwhile I just programmed in VB and played video games.   i have a lot of catching up to do, especially after re-reading my newly edited original post up above...
