Plug and Play TV Game

I've just seen an interesting looking plug and play TV game system on ebay. I'm wondering whether anyone here has seen one of these before.

It seems cheap for 30 games. But are they junk and/or just different variants of a much smaller number of games?

Don't expect to find quality craftsmanship in those things.  Jakk's are supposed to be fairly decent from what I've seen on these boards.

Also take note:  How come no mention of any specific games on that auction?

Well if I bought one it would be for hacking. So craftsmanship isn't really an issue.

I've heard that some of these no name brand plug & play games are based on pirated megadrive technology. I'm hoping that this might be one of them.

Kind of on the subject, my sister in law found a 'hook up straight to the TV' type system like this, but it was basically an NES system.  It had literally THOUSANDS of games on it, two pads, and even a LIGHT GUN!!!  She said she found it at the mall at one of those kiosks, but when I went back later it was gone.  I played it and the emulation is quite good and the light gun works well.  Does anyone have one of these?  What is it called and where can you find one?!?!  I imagine they were definitely not legitimately licensed though.

That's it, thanks!!!  How can it possibly be so cheap?  That many NES carts would surely be several hundred megs in size.

Hardly. Nes carts are extremely small in size. Those 30 or so games listed would take up practically no space at all.

Well, if it's the same unit as my sister-in-law's it had thousands of carts (I can't remember the exact number) not 30.  It's funny how that ad doesn't really say how many games, nor from what system they are -- just "lots of tons of games".  LOL

Generally when an ad lists that many games followed by such crap as "many, many, more" it means they just listed all the games.

Wow that sucks.  I remember scrolling through the games list because I didn't believe there could be that many and there seemed to be well more than 76 (I even went backwards and it went to the end of the list and sure enough it was a very high number).  Did yours only have 76 games total?  Or were there useless clones and duplicates?  I guess I'll find out (I ordered one).

I think all those extra games are things like cheats, level start points and other gameshark-like stuff.  For the most part, you get the games you recognize and the ones you don't are just some of the above with made-up names.

The one I saw actually had an NES cartridge slot on the circuit board so you could plug in a real NES cartridge if you wanted to.  They sell them all over the malls around Xmas time and try to make it out with their skins (which they mostly do) before the big "N" finds out, but the feds did nail a few of the sellers in CA a couple of years ago.  Must not have made an impression, because they were in the malls the next season.

they had one of those Kiosks in our mall a few years ago, I'm pretty sure they were forced to shut down for copyright infringement....
