My maiden joystick
« on: March 14, 2003, 09:57:50 am »
Remember my previous post 'Gameport Options', well, I finally managed to get all points connected up on my joystick. There are 7 buttons and a joystick 4/8 way. But when I test it in Dos with Joystick Tester, the buttons all work but joystick does not.
I try and connect it in Windows>Settings>Game Controllers but I get message "Not Connected".

Note that I have no microswitches connected to the joystick.

Please assist !

Last I knew you need a driver if you are running in windows(your gameport pad).
Did you install the driver?
Thats why windows is not picking up your pad and says "not connected".

I dont understand this quote either.
"I have no microswitches connected to the joystick".

How would your joystick EVER work if no microswitchs are connected? ???

Also, what kind of gamepad is this?
Most gameport gamepads only gives you directions and 4 inputs(sidewinder gives you more).

A joystick ALWAYS works without microswitchs connected... why?  Because its exactly the same as when the buttons aren't pressed and the joystick is centered.

You have a problem with your hack beyond that.... Or the gameport itself isn't working/enabled.

Do you have another computer to test it with?  Did you test the joystick before hacking it?

This joystick was tested on another pc and it worked. As it does not not work on my pc yet. I have tested the joystick with 'Joytest program' and the joystick and buttons work.

Where can I find the Dexxa gamepad drivers. I have creative soundcard and drivers for the gameport are already installed.

Please help !
