Problem with buttons from Happ.

My first order of buttons was from Ultimarc (in the UK), and all the buttons and joysticks I received were perfect.

Then I decided on a design change and needed one more button, and since I had other things to order from Happ (in the US), I decided just to get the button from them when I ordered the rest.

The microswitch included with the button had connectors that were not a standard size, they were much too small. In order for the female connector to stay on I had to crimp it to the microswitch.

That normal for microswitch buttons from Happ?  Seemed pretty stupid.

You can order microswitches with different connector size. And remember that Ultimarc pushbuttons are shorters and more solid than Happ.

For me, all I had to do was crimp the quick disconnect down a tad with needlenose and then it will fit snugly.

This isn't as easy with the insulated quick disconnects, but still possible.  I didn't use insulated on anything other than my 12v and 5v connections for LEDs and a Perfect 360 stick.

Nah, it is just as easy with insulated.

We aren't talking titanium here, and all that is needed is the slightest of presses.

Like destructor said, you can ask for 1/4" or 3/16" connectors.  Since most US arcades came with 3/16", happs defaults to that size.  Looks like Ultimarcs defaults to the 1/4". 

FWI, it's easier to find 1/4" connectors at the hardware stores, but 3/16" are just as common as 1/4" at electronics stores around here.

The .187 connector is the standard size in the context of arcade controls.  HAPP would not be selling them with that connector if they weren't ready to plug into real arcade equipment.  You can specify .250 when you order, but those are the exception, which is why you need to ask for them in that size.

The .187 connectors may not be real common at the ":Home Depot", but neither are joysticks or microswitches.  When used with the appropriate connectors, you just plug them in and they work as well as any other size.

I'll just echo what Randy said.  The .187 is the norm at least according to Happ, and most of the "real" arcade industry (in the US at least).   .250 is just another option and doesn't really make any difference in use except for having to crimp it a bit.

So yeah, it's normal as far as there ARE 2 sizes of connectors.  I guess Ultimarc just defaults to .250 instead of .187.    .250 may be more popular in Europe???
