How do I get this !@#$!@% spinner off!?

So I pulled the CP from this junker Arkanoid, and I can NOT get the spinner off of it. Looks like there's a couple of small screw holes at the base of the knob, but I can't get a hex wrench in there. Or am I supposed to disassemble the entire assembly? Seems like the knob should come off, though.

I thought that it had some type of pin that you have to punch all the way through the holes....
