GunCon2
« on: August 01, 2006, 09:41:13 pm »
Well I broke down and purchased a GunCon2 lightgun today (official Namco gun) for 10 bones at eb Games and was VERY dissapointed. Maybe I did something wrong but no matter how hard I tried I basically got nowhere. I used the WinGun drivers and got the gun to work sluggishly in a windows environment but was unable to get the gun to operate under mame at all. I tried many different settings under Mame32 plus and accomplished nothing.

Perhaps someone who has successfully used the gun in mame could tell me which settings need to be correct in order for it to work.

However here's the Catch 22. As far as I can tell all of the GunCon2 (or knockoff compatible brands) can only be used with the inferior composite video which looks and even smells like doo doo on a TV. So my only alternative is to shell out the extra bucks for an Act Labs or Top Gun.

Just thought I'd pass some time on here with more balogna.

I did get the guncon2 working in my cab, but it consistenly crashed the computer and was never very reliable, so I ended up taking it out.  S-Video looks so much nicer anyways.
