Guy posted on RGVAC just yesterday ... to be fair, $200 is the normal going rate, but I liked the way $90 lined up with $999 ...

Cheers.

What I find amusing is that based on what I've read about the Robotron he's selling, and what I've read about the Defenders (note the S there) is that I would expect the Robo to be more valuable than the Defender.

So thus I say.... WTF!   ;D

I have an original piece of Mueller black athletic tape, used to tape up my broken finger. It's even got a 1 written on it, but you can't really see it due to the fact that its, well, black, like the Sharpie.

Yours for only $8999.99 (free shipping, too!! omg). Here's your once in a lifetime chance to own this TOTALLY UNIQUE piece of Americana.

Hey now... why is it everyone has to get all crazy and stupid about such a rare find. If you really think about it, it's not much different from famous works of art. You could make the initial investment now on something such as this one of a kind classic and 15-20 years down the road sell it off and practically retire from it. I think this is one of the few oppurtunities in the arcade realm to own a piece of history and carry on the dignity of what the craft of gaming used to mean.....

 :laugh2:

Ok.... so I'm full of  :censored:.
But I have been doing a bit of information gathering, with some help, on these current ebay listings and posting what we find on RGVAC. (merely because the data is scattered and vague right now)

But here's a piece of interesting data:

The "#1" Defender machine was actually sold on ebay less than year ago to the current seller for ..... $1800
(I personally verified this straight from the original seller from last year)

Talk about a guy trying to make a buck off the arcade community.  Buys it for 1800 and now wants 17,000 a year later.  Man.. talk about bad Karma.

$1800 is reasonable, considering the alleged status of this being a #1, I would even say it could go up a bit. But, $17K ? I bet it doesn't sell...

alleged status of this being a #1

More news to come soon about that soon as well.....
The #1 status is being derived merely from a lock key with a paper tag marked with a number 1 on them.

"Rumor" (not confirmed....yet) is that the fella that sold them the machine last year had those keys made and that #1 key actually fit his Atari Centipede as well as the Defender.

hmmmm..... will it sell.....sure.....for what they're asking?.....never
But I'd be curious as to what "offers" they're getting on it.
