:)HI I have been a painter for 25 years I know I'm old I would finish all sides of your cabinet at least prime I know many of the old cabinet did not have the interiors finished but they where cutting corners.
Well that covers most of the painting issue, but if you are staining there is no need to stain everything.Put it togather, then stain it. If you glue your joints (and you should) theres no need for anything elsein those joints. P.S Wipe all excess glue with a damp cloth.

It helps prevent an uneven looking stain job.
