I was wondering if anyone has any experience getting both a track ball and spinner to be recognized by Windows ME at the same time.
My setup is this: Trackball on PS2 mouseport, spinner on USB port. If I have the spinner unplugged when I boot, the trackball works fine. Then if I plug in the spinner (while the PC is still on), both controls work fine. Moving either will move the mouse. But... when I reboot only the spinner (on the USB port) is recognized. Trackball does nothing. Only spinner moves the mouse (only on the X-axis, naturally).
Do I need to have both trackball and spinner on USB to get them to work simultaneously? Anyone have any other suggestions?
I agree with Oscar, that shouldn't be happening.
I have WinMe, a mouse in the ps/2 mouse port, and at least a trackball and mouse in 2 USB ports. No real problems (except if I don't have the ps/2 mouse plugged in, the USB mice sometimes stop working one at a time, and I need to reboot to get them going again).
Sometimes I'll have without problems some combo of up to 5 TBs (one is finger size, and only 3 are arcade quality, though), 2 mice, a spinner, or 2 lightguns plugged in USB. Not
all at once, of course.

Maybe it's a driver race condition. Have you tried uninstalling the mouse drivers and rebooting? All my mice are install with the same driver to prevent any driver confusion.
