Alright. So here's the story.

I'm making my cabinet, following mameroom.com plans(ultimate arcade II). So far so good, I finished laminating today, and I'm going to assemble it tommorow(hopefully).

Now, I'm a little torn on whether to get the Happ Vision Pro, or the Toshiba 27A34. Both of them I have ready access to. I'm lucky in that I live only ten minutes or so from Happ's corporate headquarters in Elk Grove, Illinois, and my local best buy has the specific Toshiba tv in stock.

I want to get the Vision Pro... Because it sounds great, it's got the 800 x 600 resolution, it's a perfect fit into my cabinet... And of course, I could just pick it up, and if it ever broke down I could just drop it off at Happ's.  ;D

Yet, it's expensive. And the Toshiba TV is significantly cheaper... Plus, if I got the Toshiba TV, I would be able to connect my Dreamcast, Xbox, etc. into it, no problem. So, in the end I guess I'm asking you guy's if you have anything to share, any personal experiences with either products, anything would help really. Both TVs have their positives and negatives, but I'm not really familar with them. If any of you guys have had a really bad or really good experience with either of them, that'd help me decide.

Its not really a question we can answer.  Will paying the extra money for the Vision Pro significantly effect your pocketbook?  Do you plan on hooking your dreamcast/xbox/etc. up to your arcade?  If not, then that shouldn't be much of an issue.  The Vision Pro will give a much better picture then the tv, but some argue a tv gives a more realistic picture compared to the classic arcades.

I'm using a tv and I'm happy with it.  To me, the extra money for an arcade monitor wasn't worth it.

No, paying the extra money would not be a big deal, and yes, I was planning on playing dreamcast/xbox games on my arcade but I'd have to pay for the adapters and a new video card and in the end that would make it just as expensive as getting a Vision Pro.

Also, the Dreamcast has a VGA box product, I think. So I could just get that.

Edit: New videocard so that the computer could output to the television. And adapters so the control panel would work with the consoles.

I think nothing beats an arcade monitor for that "authentic" arcade picture but I only use it for MAME.  I'm not sure what I would do if I wanted to play my Dreamcast or something... probably build another cab!
