I was experiencing power supply problems with my system until I upgraded to an Antec 430W psu for the pc. That problem is now resolved, but I now I have some strange behavior with my Smartstrip and the overall setup.
I'm pulling +5/+12 from the pc's supply since it's ample enough to do so. I now find that my pc will not turn on unless I temporarily unplug the outgoing voltage for my lights, ipac/optipac, etc. After the system starts, I can then plug the voltage connector back in place and all is good. Shut-down behavior works as expected.
The Antec psu has nice, isolated outlets and modular cables for a handful of power sources on the unit itself, and I've purposely chosen two different plug-in's in an attempt to spread out the voltage drain as much as possible. One cable is dedicated to the pc hardware and another is strictly for the accessory voltage needs. This made the most sense, but why would this setup cause the strange start-up behavior I'm experiencing? Is there something in the pc's BIOS I need to tweak? I'm really stumped on this one...
