Me and my bros would play Ikarii for hours when we were young, I want the authentic playability. I had considered putting the rotaries in the player 2 and 3 position, but I'm still unsure how well the function as 8 ways. I can fit the rotaries on the quad pannel with no problem but its not as neat and tidy as I would like either. I am going to phone that company and see what info I cant get on their converter, I am am reading their site right, it seems as though its made for people who want to develop their own PC games using real arcade light guns.

There might be one product to hook arcade lightguns to the PC: http://r0r3.com/productsusbopticalgun.htm.  But no one wants to pay the $160 to test it out, and it's only listed as winME/98 compatable.  [shrug]  Happs used to carry this product, but I haven't been able to find it at their site for years now.

That's what I was referring to ... I only now noticed that it isn't in the Happ catalog.

To my knowledge, there is no driver for using this in MAME, so nope.

This might be a misleading answer.  There are no "drivers" for using mice, lightgun, joysticks or keyboards in mame, yet they work.

If there was no driver in windows, it won't work in mame.  But since I don't know what exactly is being talked about, I can't say if there's a driver or not, or if it will work or not.

Yep, incorrectly worded and potentially misleading ... thanks for straightening me out.

Cheers.

If you are interested in the balltop "J" Stick that Ultimarc sells for your 4-way and want a different color besides red the link to Lizard Lick Amusements I provided earlier will set you up with about a half dozen different color choices.  The $19.95 Sanwa model is the same as the "J" Stick.  As previously mentioned I really like the "J" stick.  It has a definite diamond pattern that for me works well in playing the classics.

If they are ball-tops, then they shouldn't pose a problem when used as just plain 8-ways...
Putting them in the 2 and 3 player positions is a good idea.

NO MORE!!

Hoepully these specs can be considered final (for this cab anyway)

Ultimate Arcade II Cab

Slikstik Quad Blank

27" Multisync Monitor

Ipac 4

1 4-way Ultimarc J-Stick

2 Happs Competition 8-ways

2 Happs Mechanical-Rotary 8-ways + Druins Interface (2 & 3 player positions)

1 Happs Illuminated Trackball (USB Connection)

1 Tornado Spinner (USB Connection)

Happs Buttons Horizontal Microswitch

On a side note I talked to a guy at ROR3 about the light gun interface, you only need one interface for 2 guns and he says it native in windows. I'm going to try and pioneer here and see if it will work. He says if it doesnt he will refund me, I told him if it does work properly, he could proly expect some buisness. I am going to get 1 Happ .45 light gun to start off and if it doesn't work I'll proly just ebay it.

If there's anything wrong with this config, please let me know, I figure I have plenty of time to try and get it right.

Edit* I talked to our local arcade vendor today, and he informed me about the adapter for the light guns. It was explained to me that not only do I need the ULGI pcboard interface for the gun, but I also need the UCGI adapter (Happ) to make it functional on a pc for mame. Essentialy making it a $400 endeavor for the adapters and the guns. I'm sorry to say that I wont be investing in that experiment.

I don't see any big errors or ommissions in your list.

Cheers.
