minipac problem - shift and coin1 don't work
« on: July 08, 2006, 03:03:48 pm »
it's been a while but i'm back again looking for help.

so i got back from an extended business trip to find my roomate had managed to screw up my mame cabinet.  after cleaning up my mamewah ini files and reprogramming my minipac, i've got things mostly working.

the only things that don't work are the coin1 (key_5) and any shift functions.  i reprogrammed p1_8 to a dedicated esc key and that worked so it's not a problem with the programming.  also, everything works fine from the keyboard.

i've seen posts about shift not working with a stuck/shorted key so that's where i'm currently looking.  everything worked previously so i don't think the wiring is bad (how would i check this if i end up needing to?).  i'm going to try moving coin1 to another input and reprogramming it back to key_5 to see if that will fix it.  in the mean time i figured i'd check in here to see if anybody had any other ideas.

oh, i'm using mame 83b, mamewah 1.5, and have the ps/2 and rom jumpers set on my minipac.

thanks

well i switched coin1 (key_5) to another input and reprogrammed the minipac and that worked.  i guess this means my coin1 pin on the minipac is shot.  is there any way i can verify this?

unfortunately the shift function is still not working.  any ideas on what might be wrong and how i can fix it?

thanks
