Afternoon all,
To the point.... I have a 2-player stand-alone joystick I made some time ago using Happ Super Joysticks. The Supers are mounted by way of t-nuts - with standard 6mm (1/4") bolts.
I am wanting to swap in a pair of J-sticks to try them out and possibly replace the Supers.
Luckily, the mounting holes line up perfectly, however the diameters are quite different. Not sure exactly, but the J-sticks seem to be about 2/3 as wide at best (i.e 4mm or so).
With plastic this would be no problem as I could just drill out the holes, however it is thick metal - 1.5mm (1/16") or there abouts. I don't have any tools for working metal and indeed my supply of tools are limited at best.
Can anyone think of a suitable way to bore out the hole? Would a simple hand reamer do for metal that thick or would a metal-drilling bit of of the correct final diameter work?
It may seem silly, however in Australia we tend to have more of the Asian-style cabs with the lighter, more responsive Sanwas. Don't get me wrong - I've got nothing against the Happs, but I already have the J-sticks, and with a few molex connectors for wiring, swapping them in for Street Fighter Tourneys would be pretty excellent.
At the moment my stick is bare MDF as I am waiting to sort this out before painting/covering etc...
I would love to hear any ideas or advice.
Many thanks,
p.
