Want to Buy: Machined control panel
« on: July 03, 2006, 05:06:18 pm »
Hi, I am looking to a buy a single piece of machined metal with holes drilled for a japanese Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT joystick with mounting plate,  six 30 mm sanwa screw in buttons, and two Sanwa 24 mm start buttons.  The metal piece should be 3/16 inches thick or as close a possible to that thickness.

I would like the metal piece to be a rectangle, measuring 14 1/4 inches by 9 1/2 inches.

I would like holes also drilled along the edge of the control panel for use in mounting the panel into a wooden box which I will be building myself.  The holes would be 3/8 inch in diameter.

After making a quote I can provide the maker with detailed information about joystick and button placement, as well as where to drill the holes to mount the joystick.

I am also open to other methods available for mounting this joystick-button combination.

hey got your message. i have a machinist friend who can cut metal to the specifications you need. they actually have a computer driven metal cutter that will be able to get to the specifications you want.  Here is the deal breaker though.  The machine cuts up to 25-50 pieces at once, to be cost effective. otherwise your going to pay a lot of $$ upwards of $50+.  That does not include the holes in the middle.  You have to order 20+ to get a good price. The astro, windy, versus cabs all have the same cp so I had him make 20 cps for me.  it came to about $14 per piece.  Here is the issue. the smaller holes are hard to do for him because the time it takes to set it up per hole. So with the aluminum metal I was able to cut the holes myself with a metal drill press. this way i can custom 3,4,6 buttons for the customer.  If you can go to a machine metal shop near you they can tell you what the cost will be. try to draw out what you want that way they can give you a total cost and maybe shop arount. remember the holes can be cut yourself if you want to save $$. Make sure you use aluminum because steel is almost impossible to fix and even harder to bend. Once you screw up your dust. Tried steel once and it was not at all flexible.

good luck
