Nice sale at Home Depot
« on: July 02, 2006, 06:05:38 am »
Stopped by Home Depot today and they had a sign just inside the door saying that they were giving 10% off everything in the store through July 4th for people who are now or ever have been in the military. All you need is some sort of proof of your service (Military ID, DD214, pay stub, etc). I was able to use an old ID that I still carry with me even though the ID expired in 2000. Basically, if you've ever been involved with the military in any way and can prove it, you get 10% off.

With this being a long weekend for many people and a time when alot of us are working on projects, it's a great time to stock up.

As far as I know, this is nationwide, but I suppose it could have been a local thing. I saw it at the Joliet, IL store.
$6.75 the hard way-one quarter at a time.

10% is the least they can do.

You have a salute from me for being in the military! Thanks a lot!

Not fishing for "thank you's" (though they are welcome :)), but I had to post a pic of the back of my car for this thread.

(Sorry for the thread hi-jack. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program)

They did this on Memorial Day as well (so did Lowe's). I had purchased about $80 worth of stuff at Home Depot that weekend, but didn't have my military ID on me, and they wouldn't take my dog tag I carry on my keychain as proof. Oh well, I was in the Air Force, and that doesn't count as the real military anyway.  :P

Hey now, I love the Air Farce. They always had the best damn mess-they all but sent out waiters to serve you at the table. It was like eatting at a buffet restaurant. Plus their guys always traveled on insane TDY allowances and loved to buy drinks for everyone.

For the record, prior service Army Reserve here-supply slug/armorer. I miss having all my babies weapons to take care of.

We did have some good chow. Hell, I was stationed in Honolulu and we had 2 60" TVs and a friggin waterfall in the mess hall. Whenever I'd go over to Pearl Harbor and eat, I'd cringe. I don't know how those Navy guys could eat that crap, and then have to clean up their own trays. It was barbaric.  ;D

My POS was nowhere near as cool as handling weapons. I sat in a hole and made sure the mainframe didn't crash while the ocifers were playing their war games. We did get the opportunity to load up Quake and play it on the lan though. Good times.

Thanks for pointing this sale out.

Don't need any more building supplies at the moment, but 10 percent off of a BBQ grill sounds mighty sweet!  Finally, my past military service delivers a perk!

that sucks... I think my dog tags are the only thing I could find right away,  except for my navy Whies and blues still hanging in the closet....
