BYO Volcano Switch?
« on: June 29, 2006, 08:00:41 pm »
Anyone catching my vision here? A new threaded volcano cone, a hollow 1/2 inch threaded rod, a couple nuts, a little bracket made from tin (shown in pink), a standard Cherry switch, and a plunger made from ????.  Maybe even a hole drilled in the side of the threaded rod for a LED to illuminate the plunger?
It's not NOS authentic, but I bet it wouldn't cost NOS authentic either...

Not BYO, but these guys are apparently going to sell repros of the old cones with switches (and you can pick up a Major Havok roller while you're there  :P ):

http://www.ram-controls.com/products.html

EDIT: Ouch...cones are $4, but $18 for the switch and $15 flat shipping rate for orders under $500?    :censored:   :dizzy:

RAM Controls has excellent repros, top-notch in my opinion, and if I were restoring an original cab, 18 bucks a switch would be a bargin, but for a MAME cab I'm can't justify the cost, so I'm working on alternate ideas.

I thought $ 20 for the cone and switch seemed like a good price for start buttons shippings not to bad if you by 5 or 6. Works about $22 a set that way.
There are three kinds of people in the world those that can count and those that can't.
