Horizontal Spinners
« on: June 28, 2006, 04:36:45 am »
Hello,

With my cab nearly finished (thank goodness) I want to have a spinner installed.  But yet again due to my exceptional brilliance of planning I have not allocated space on the front of the CP.

I have a X-Arcade mounted in the front, and want it to be portable to use it with the xbox downstairs in the living room, so I could not install one in the unit.  I hate addon panels and want it to look attractive yet functional.

My friend suggested I mount the spinner horizontally just below the X-Arcade, to the side of the CP to play tempest etc.  I'm using a hard drive spindle and mouse hack to enable spinner control for both sides (Akari Warriors).

My question is, would this work and if so how do I mount it ? The vertical method used gravity to keep the circuit board from becoming mis-aligned.

Also I want the spinner to have a gear engaged to emulate the rotary 'Click' in the joysticks like in Akari Warriors.  I play Akari a lot and the spinner helps.

Is this all pie in the sky, could I not buy the rotary joys from Happ to install in the X-Arcade?  Is it deep enough?

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.
