Quick Disconnects
« on: March 07, 2003, 08:01:45 pm »
Where can i find .187 disconnects?  I've tried both Home Deopt and Lowes and all they have is .250.  All radioshack has is in combination boxes with .250's.  This is really frustrating, I've looked online but i don't want to pay more in shipping than the actual cost of the product.  I'm in Massachusetts so if anyone knows anywhere please help.

I bought mine from the real bob roberts.. (www.therealbobroberts.com)

He has:
Fully insulated standard size .187 50 per bag for 5.00 each.  Shipping isn't that bad either.  I bought two packs from him along with some wire.  Very prompt service also, I would reccomend you buy some here if you can't find them local!

NAPA auto parts stores! :)
20 for $2 uninsulated or 10 for $2 insulated.
I really don't see the point in using insulated ones for this type of application, Besides thinking they look better.

.187 is what most joystick and button switches have, right?

I've never measured to see what size they are, but the insulated and uninsulated QDs i've purchased all came from the automotive-electrics aisle at Wal-Mart. They are the right size for my Ultimarc joys and buttons.

Probably not the best deal, but equally probably easiest to acquire in a hurry.

MinerAl,

.187 is what cherry switches have yes, That is not what you got at Wal-Mart though. They only have .250 as far as I've seen.

.250's will work but if you are a stickler for details like myself it just won't do. heh

As I said previously NAPA is the place to go without sending for them, Every town has a NAPA! :)

BTW: NAPA doesn't have them labeled as .187 they are labeled as 4,76 mm (3/16") but they are the exact same parts from the same company that you get elsewhere labeled as .187!
On the back of the terminals is stamped ETC

The cheapest I found them was at MCM Electronics.  so I got 6 packs of 100.  Here is the link : http://www.mcmelectronics.com/Home/level_5.jhtml?PRODID=16058&SKUID=15303
By the way, I have been reading the forum for a while now but this is my first post.  Hello.

Siris,

I politely disagree.

There's no play in these at all.    Unless I have freak switches, which is possible since i didn't get them from Happs, these are .187s that I got at Wal-Mart.

I'm goign to go check out Napa today.  I used .250 before but they keep on falling off. So I'm going to go with .187 and hopefully it will all look much neater.  After all when I post my website I don't want to be embarased  by a sucky wiring job.  Thanks for the heads up on Napa.

I used .250's. Got them from Home  Depot. Squeezed them a bit with pliers after crimping but before connecting to microswitch as they were loose otherwise.

I broke out the tape measure, and these are 1/4 inch, so they must be .250s

These switches (from Ultimarc)  have .250 spades then, because, as I mentioned, there's no play in them at all.

Sorry for the bad advice.
