An error in MALA with NES emulator
« on: June 19, 2006, 06:54:13 pm »
Hi, today I was checking all my emus and when I was checking Nintendo nes (FCEULTRA) when I was passing the list of the games suddenly an error appeared which blocked MALA, I had to shutdown it via ALT+F4 . When I launched again MALA the same error appeared before the MALA's screen appeared, I had to change the emu from NES to another one.

I show you here the photo of the error. Mala only fails with NES  emu when I reached the letter E of the games passing one by one them.

thank you for this great frontend

Can you send me your 'All Games' list for the NES emu?

Go to the other emu config tab and get the index of the NES emu from the emu list. The first emu in the list is index 0 the second index 1 and so on. The name of your All Games list is 'All Games.ml + index'.

Just zip and upload it here: http://mala.arcadezentrum.com/layout_upload.html

Thanks!

I did some testing and wasn't able to reproduce this error. Can you still reproduce this error?

I think y found the problem. Today I configured again the NES Emulator, it worked fine till I put the DIR of the SNAP. When I did it, I had only to move the stick one time and the same error appeared.

I am using the NOINTRO roms and snaps, with this an others emus I have intalled, I dont know wahy the error appears with NES

This is a access violation (pointer problem). I'm already on the hunt ...

I guess you could try pointing mala to some currupt snap files or bogus directories to see if mala falls over?

CyrusMzRG, I was able to reproduce this error with your snaps. The file 'Egypt (J).png' causes this error.
After converting the png format from png32 to png8 it works. Normally MaLa can read the png32 format so I think there is a format/conversion error in some of the snaps. All other images you sent me are png8 images.

So maybe a batch conversion with Irfan view or something else can do the trick.

So we have to convert all the snap files that cause this error???  It appears to be a Mala problem not a image problem since I can use the same images in Mamewah with no problem.

I did notice that something was changed between RC6 and RC7.  Before with RC6  the error message would appear but you could still keep going down the list.  With RC7 the program crashes and tells you to check the error log file.

Also want to reference this thread http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=55812.0  since it pointed me to this thread.
