How to config VPinball with MALA
« on: June 19, 2006, 09:20:35 am »
Hi, I have config all emus but Vpinball doesnt wor properly.

Executable --> ...\Vpinbal.exe
Roms  --> vpt

and I selected the profile for Vpinball in mala which sets the command files

As you see I dont use any wrapper, the table loads, but sometimes I need to click with the mouse in it for having control of the flippler, plunger etc...
Most of the times when I would like to exit for vpinball emu, when I push ESC button, sometimes the Emu hungs and others I need to exit manually ALT-F4

I would like to know the best way to launch Vpinball under MALA, with the correct command lines, wrapper or executable

Thank you

I will look for you when I get home tonight ...... I do not use a VPinball wrapper either .......

I am assuming Visual Pinball works for you currently if you click the VPinball.exe file and select a table manually ....... correct?

Hi, yes from MALA, if I put as executable Vpinbal.exe the table works perfect, but what I cannot do is exit from Vpinball, sometimes gives me an error and others I need to press F4 for closing it .

Thank you I

Ok, I originally thought you wre having trouble get VisualPinball to execute via MALA.  I now understand you are just having trouble exitting from VisualPinball after it is started via MALA.   I do not have this problem and I do not use a wrapper since I can program my keyboard encoder to execute multiple keypresses at the push of one button.

My exit button is mapped to the following keypresses in the following order:

Alt-F4
Alt-F
X

Just in case you wanted to see them .... here are my MALA settings:

Executable:  G:\VisualPinball\VPinball.exe
Rom Path: G:\VisualPinball\Tables
Rom Extension: vpt
Command Line: -play -"%path%\%rom%.%ext%"

If you manually double-click VPinball.exe and then go into the "PReferences\Keys" menu, then you can set the key mappings.  I do not believe Visual Pinball hasa mouse click to control the flippers, but I am not sure.  I do not know why you are having those problems.

If you run VPinball.exe manually (ie: by clicking VPinball.exe directly .....not using MALA), then select a table to run manually, then can you exit with no problems?   Also, while you started a table manually do you still have issues with clicking your mouse to move a flipper?  I can not imagine this would be caused by using MALA, since MALA simply starts the VPinball.exe application for you, but should not mess with the actually program execution at all......

Yes, as I told you I have no probles to execute VPinball via MALA, my first issue right now is exiting from it. Now I am mpore quiet due to my config is OK, is as yours, so what I need to config is the multiple kaypresses as you hace.

you mean I can do thant directly in VPinball?? If not, whic program I should use for do that?

What I talk about using mouse to move the flippers is that I need to click into the Vpinbal window due to that windows was not selectec, so, if I pushed the keys assigned to the flipplers they did'n work.

So what I need to get is config the multikey, I f you can help me with this "last" trouble it would be great

Thank you for your help unclet

I am confused regarding your mouse problem, but I believe you only need help exitting from MALA.    I am not sure I can help you with this, as exiting via multiple keypresses is not a function of VPinball, but is a function of the specific keyboard encoder I have (ie: KE72 Hagstrom Keyboard Encoder).   These types of encoders allow multiple keypresses to be assigned to one button.

This is one of the main reasons why people create wrappers.   They allow exiting from an application to be performed by one keypress for those people who can not program their keyboard encoder to have multiple keypresses per button.

I never tried the visual pinball wrapper, but I am assuming it works fine..... you might want to give it a try...
