Essential Jukebox Albums

Hey guys, sorting out the jukebox for my cabinet now and I want some suggestions as to some 'Essential' albums that you would see on a jukebox. My friend's parents used to own a social club and several songs that I remember being played alot on the jukebox there were Bon Jovi - These Days and KISS - Crazy Crazy Nights. Looking towards more rock/classic rock. If you guys have any must haves that you think please post cheers.

I prefer rock/indie/alternative but i made sure i had all the uk Now That's What I Call Music albums on there. There are 65 of them and they have all the chart hits from the 80's onwards so it tends have something for everyone then.

To be honest I'm quite open to what gets put on it, I do have several of those Now XX albums. Just wasn't sure if you guys new some albums that you would tend to find on most jukeboxes in the 70's/80's.

To be honest i don't think jukeboxes that supported albums really kicked off until the 80's before then it was all singles. Don't forget it was not until CD's became popular that album jukeboxes were actually possible. Here in england the Now albums were always found on jukeboxes... Due to the fact they contained most current singles.

80s Rock to me must include some AC-DC, INXS, Cold Chisel/Jimmy Barnes and lastly Billy Idol (Mony Mony , White Wedding or Rebel Yell)..

I loaded mine up with mostly greatest hits stuff.  Some I can't live without:
Foreigner, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, CCR, The Beatles, The Doors, Aerosmith

I could go on and on.

I agree! I grabbed greatest hits albums for my jukebox for a majority of the bands. If I was a true fan, I would get multiple albums as I knew the whole album. As a whole, people seem to only select only the hits even if you have full albums on it.

Mine mostly includes 80's hairbands: Poison, Motley Crue, Queensryche, Tesla, Whitesnake, Guns n Roses, Bon Jovi.

Since I have a laser projector I made sure to include some Pink Floyd so we can havea Laser Floyd show.

Make sure you add Baby Got Back by Sir Mix-alot on there. That song probably gets played the most by my kid.

You definately need AC/DC, Motley Crue (especially Girls, Girls, Girls), and the greatest love song of all time: Cherry Pie by Warrant.

I just took a look at the top 100 of that list and I must say it's got a lot of good ones on there, but I must also cofess I have never ever heard of this band or album, should I know something off of it?

And I'm pretty sure I haven't heard of this guy either.

27. King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol. 1, Robert Johnson

Every body else I've at least heard of, even if I don't know there stuff. Maybe it's cause I'm from WI.

Guess I'll have to give them a listen.  I tend to like blues music, but apparently not enough to know these guys.

Wasn't Robert Johnson the character in Crossroads as well?

  Robert Johnson is a guitar player from the 1930's.  He is considered one of the greatest guitar players of all time.  People are still trying to figure out how he played some of his songs.  Yes he is the guy from the movie "Crossroads".  The whole "sell your soul to the devil at the crossroads" story is about him.  People said he was to good of a guitar player and had to have made a deal with the devil.  If your into old blues give him a shot but understand that the recordings are old and scratchy.

Captain Beefheart was/is a friend of Frank Zappa and his music is in the same vein.  rock/jazz/psychedelic/blues.

As far as albums for a juke, my choices are:

1.  Rolling Stones: Hot Rocks, More Hot Rocks and Let It Bleed
2.  Beatles: red and blue hits collections
3.  both Dazed and Confused soundtracks
4.  Pure Cult
5.  and to throw in one from off the beaten path: Cigar Store Indians
