FYI -- Computer Sale
« on: June 14, 2006, 11:52:17 am »
I don't work for Dell, I just thought this was a good enough deal to pass it on as an FYI for anyone looking for a new system.  I just got the following, shipped, for under $700:

2.8 MHz P4
160 GB Harddrive
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
Windows Media Center XP
19" Flat panel monitor
16X CD/DVD burner
Other ordinary bells and whistles.

Seems like a bang up deal to me, especially considering that it includes the monitor and shipping.  If anyone needs a system for MAME, or perhaps a system to replace an older system you'll be using for MAME (as I am), now might be a good time.  Most of their systems are on sale until tomorrow.

If posting this sort of thing is inappropriate, please delete.  Not my intention to solicit sales for Dell or anything.  Just passing on some info that is hopefully relevant to the community.

 ;D

Actually, this one is going on my desk, freeing up my current computer, a four year old Athlon 2200+ to run the cab.  It runs KI & KI2 just fine, and that's really all I need it to do -- I use Photoshop a ton on my desktop, and it would actually see a benefit from that extra juice!

You know what I just tried about 6 months ago and I've decided I love it? Dual monitor. It's great for photoshop. I have my image on one monitor and all the tool bars on the other. So.... you just need another 19" and a video card with dual outputs.

Triple monitor is even better! I am dropping back to dual monitor though because one of my monitors is being realocated to my new tabletop project.
